After getting back from the office, where I’d sat behind a desk on a gloriously sunny day, I wanted to relax in the garden and get the BBQ going.
In my head I was justifying that it was only one run, I could make up for it another time and take the easy option!
But I forced myself to put my trainers on and start running…
And what a lovely evening it was! I ran across the beautiful Surrey Hills near my home in Guildford and looked at the stunning views as the sun was setting. There were so many people out, walking their dog, taking an evening stroll with a loved one, couples having impromptu picnics, and everyone I passed nodded, smiled and said good evening.
I came back from my run feeling refreshed, relaxed and so glad that I had made the effort to get out there as what a lovely experience I would have missed if I had chosen the easy option to sit in the garden.
My motivation for pulling my trainers on and getting myself moving this evening was the feeling that I should practice what I preach.
Every day at work I encourage members to be proactive with their dating, to get out there to meet people with our guidance and support, and I recognise it isn’t easy.
It’s easier to put it off and think ‘I’ll do it later’. It’s easier to wait until you have more time or more energy.
But what about the opportunities you’re missing by putting things off?
Things don’t come to you when you’re sat on your sofa (or sat in the garden!) The easy option doesn’t reap the best rewards and you have to be proactive and make that initial effort. Just that little bit of momentum makes the whole process easier and gets the ball rolling.
If you are sitting on your sofa this evening, wondering if and when you’ll meet your partner in life, or if you’re putting off dating or waiting for the ‘right time’, then make that decision to do something about it. If you need a little bit of support, guidance, or even a gentle kick up the backside, then get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
We have the marriages, babies and long-term relationships to show that a little bit of effort can make a huge difference.
If you want to start your dating journey then you can personally contact me, Hayley Bystram, on 0207 152 6011, and I would be happy to chat to you about getting things kick-started and making that positive change now.
