Increase the Good in Your Relationship

When it comes to relationships, researcher John Gottman has found that 69% of a couple’s problems are perpetual. For that reason, those problems will probably never go away. Now don’t fret, that doesn’t mean your relationship is doomed for failure, it just means that you may be wasting your precious time trying to solve them.

On the contrary, there’s probably a lot of good in your relationship that can be increased. According to Gottman, the best relationships are more about increasing the good than reducing the bad and separation or divorce may have less to do with an increase in conflict and more to do with a decrease in positive feelings.

Increase the good

So how do you go about increasing the good? According to many happiness studies, the key is excitement! This means no lame, boring date nights; instead do something that takes you back to when you were you and your partner were at your happiest. Get creative!
