There have been a lot of ups and downs this year and some very unexpected situations across the world. Some people will be happy to see the end of 2016 while others have celebrated great victories, but no matter what has happened this year, we should all be positive in achieving our goals in the year ahead.
1. Start how you mean to go on
New Year’s eve is a great way to meet new people and start the year on a positive note. Whether you enjoy an intimate soiree with friends or an elaborate event, do something fun and positive with friends, reminisce on the last year and look forward to what lies in the future.
2. Be committed
Whether you are looking for a new job, starting a new hobby or looking for love, be committed in your endeavours and don’t give up until you have found what you are looking for. Seek the help and advice from professionals, friends and family and do your research to help you make the most informed decision to help you reach a happy outcome. If you have the support of loved ones and the right mind-set, you can do anything!
3. Keep an open-mind
Although it is important to stick to your resolutions, keep an open mind on where life can take you. If you are committed to starting a new hobby, try considering things that you may not have thought of before and be open-minded to suggestions from friends. You can mirror this outlook in your dating life also. If you narrow your criteria too much when dating your end goal may be impossible to reach and you will feel like you haven’t made any progress.
4. Take risks
Settling into a routine becomes comfortable and easy, so the most difficult thing is to shake things up and make a change. Your situation won’t change if you sit back and wait, so be proactive and take risks to achieve your goals. You may be more comfortable sitting at home and trying to find love online, however if this hasn’t proved successful in 2016 there is a slim chance that it will prove fruitful in 2017. Put yourself in new (even if slightly uncomfortable) situations and be open to new experiences and people.
5. Prove people wrong
There will always be people that don’t believe in you, however use their negativity to push you in achieving your goals. Although Donald Trump has been a rather controversial figure in the recent months, many people were ridiculing him at the beginning of this year, and now he is set to be president of the United States! This is not to say that you should insult people to achieve your goals, but if you believe in yourself you will always have supporters.
6. Get off the computer and go outside
Online dating agencies aim to keep people on their site, and although some people have found love online, it has a very low success rate. The best way to form a relationship is to make real-life connections with people. Whether you ask a friend to introduce you to some new people, go to a networking event or even hire a matchmaker – meeting someone in person will help you identify if there is a real connection between you, and save you a lot of time and disillusion in the long-run!
